NeuroSteppin with Noodlelegs Health & Fitness

Noodlelegs Health & Fitness introduces . . .

NeuroSteppin (aka: NoodleSteppin)

A NEW name in fall 2025 to reflect the fact that in our classes, we are testing and challenging our brains and balance a LOT – through movement and fun!!

NeuroSteppin is a fun, unique, fall-prevention class, tailored to adults 50+ at a beginner level. We work on our balance, reaction time, posture, coordination, recall, agility, and strength using functional movements . . . with lots of smiles!!

At Noodlelegs, we believe that our modern society is too sedentary. Do you agree???! So . . . if we can continue moving a little bit more – without pain or health issues holding us back (you know your needs) –  we should be moving functionally as much as possible, and not sit much while we exercise. Sure, there are exercise classes that are done completely from a seated position, and there is a time and a place for that – but is that how you want to live your days? Seated?? Our bodies adapt quickly to our activity level. So we need to continually challenge our brain and body movements on a regular basis. If we don’t, that’s usually when falls can happen.

**With certified, guided instruction, you get the best bang for your fall-prevention buck at NeuroSteppin!**

Some people say NeuroSteppin is also:

  • a workout for my brain that leaves me feeling ALIVE and more confident – yet really tired because I worked my brain hard
  • parts of class are a bit like line-dancing . . . but not quite
  • planned out steps to help with fall-prevention (and they work when we regularly attend, and then keep at it!)
  • different activities that get our groove on and always keep us guessing
  • health and fall-prevention tidbits that add up to a lot
  • something I always look forward to as a fun excuse to get out of the house and meet new people — and go for coffee after class
  • a low-impact exercise class which I appreciate
  • a great stepping stone to get back at things because I’ve been very inactive life as of late
  • it’s like Cheers – a place to go where everybody’s glad you came
  • an exercise/movement class for normal people who actually eat chocolate and ice cream
  • a class where we don’t have to dress like a gym queen to belong
  • (“Well, I don’t really know how to describe NeuroSteppin, but I love the music, the instructor, and all the unexpected stuff we do and learn!”)

NeuroSteppin is a casual, non-impact, non-twisting, line-dance-kind-of-movement class for complete beginners  in a non-judgmental atmosphere  – where people can exercise safely and effectively – always with an element of fun!

NeuroSteppin may also benefit those with Osteoporosis/Arthritis because we don’t slam the feet/joints, and it is low impact. You can even have a chair nearby to hang on to –  just in case.

Please note: The Monday and Wednesday classes have the similar presentation for that week, but each class has a different feel to it, and the strength portion and activities do change too.

A NeuroSteppin class will generally look like this:

  • a very slow warm up to get the body moving; this may include a fun activity that keeps you guessing
  • an “oldies” NeuroSteppin song: we will do basic, non-impact, functional body movements that are presented in a scientifically proven order to challenge our thinking and coordination
  • we take a break, have some water, and grab our resistance bands for the strengthening portion of class
  • gentle strength training portion- can be done from a standing position, or seated when needed. (No floor mat work).
  • cool down with gentle stretching

For 2025-2026 fall/winter/spring seasons, there are 4 sessions:
Sept-Oct 2025
Nov-Dec 2025
Jan-Feb 2026
Mar-Apr 2026
Then for the late spring/summer a lot of Noodleleggers turn to the Noodlelegs Nordic Pole Walking Adventures because we are outside and enjoying the beautiful Okanagan!

GOOD TIMES, GREAT NOODLELEGGERS!

“With these Noodlelegs activities, you aren’t seen as ‘just an old lady’. You are treated as a respected friend, and as someone who matters. FINALLY!! The instructor understands that we want to get out, have fun, meet some new friends, laugh, move and feel better! This is what Vernon desperately needs!”- L, 77

“Noodlelegs activities are FUN! Everybody needs to do something like this. The old saying is true: if you don’t use it, you lose it. And this REALLY applies to us sedentary folks nowadays. Join Noodlelegs classes and re-visit fun PE activities that are tailored for us ‘life-experienced’ folk!” – S, 78

2. Call 250.549.6778 in the evenings for more information and Noodlelegs will help you get registered!

NEEDED:

  • For our strength training portion in our NeuroSteppin class, we will be using resistance bands. Please bring yours.
  • If you have more than one band, bring them! You may want bands of different strengths for different exercises.
  • Please bring water, a snack, any needed medications, weather appropriate clothing  – and smiles!

CLOTHING:

  • No, you do not need a cowgirl/cowboy hat . . . but feel free to wear one, or some other another dancing hat! Be YOU! This is YOUR time!
  • No, you don’t need cowboy boots because we aren’t doing any hard stomping moves. Please wear comfortable shoes without heels, and that are loosely-snug on your feet. (The instructor will be wearing running shoes.)
  • No, you don’t need tight, fancy line-dancing jeans! In the strength training portion, you will want to be able to sit and move comfortably. (The instructor will be wearing comfortable sweats and tshirt.)  But wear whatever you feel best in. Just know that this isn’t a fashion show by any means. It’s a casual, fun, family atmosphere!

GREAT! Then you’ll fit in perfectly with our classes —>  where nobody cares!

We use music to help improve our coordination, balance, agility and fall prevention techniques. But, if you are a dancer, you may not appreciate the “non-fluidity” of the movements to the music!! Each movement presented has a hidden agenda: functional fitness for us (older) adults. So some of our moves aren’t necessarily “dance” moves, while some modified dance moves may be used…

We are here to laugh, have fun, move and groove – and improve!

Payment instructions will be send upon class registration confirmation.
